Last weekend, friends & members of Malaysian Club Deutschland (MCD) enjoyed a pleasant evening in Frankfurt including music, cultural performances, a lavish buffett and a lucky draw.
President Rosita Heilek welcomed some 300 hundred guests to celebrate the club’s 20th anniversary in conjunction with Malaysia’s 60th anniversary of independence, 60 years of German-Malaysian diplomatic ties and 50 years of ASEAN.
Guests enjoyed an opulent buffet courtesy of Malaysia’s chef Dato’ Chef Ismail. It was the 10th time he had been invited to prepare his original Malaysian culinary delights for MCD. In his address to the guests, Chef Ismail brushed one or two tears away about the strong ties with MCD members which he considers more than good friends but “his family”.
It was an evening of great emotions for Malaysia’s Consul General Adina Kamarudin as well. Madam Adina who is just about to end her tenue in Germany won over the audience with her witty and humorous speeches which to a great extend she held in German language. Her contribution to MCD can not be underestimated, Rosita Heilek said, adding she will be greatly missed.
Among the guests were town representatives from Frankfurt and Wiesbaden as well as delegations from Malaysia. A culture group from Sarawak enchanted the audience with traditional dances and music while pianist Kass and singer Tasha from Johor entertained the audience with international lounge and dinner music.
Durning the event, the state of Johor also launched its German website www.xplorejohor.de which is online with immediate effect. Johor also provided beautiful images and videos of the many attractions Johor is blessed with.
With the drawing of the lucky winners of many valuable prizes the officla part of the programme was over, and the guests had the chance to lose some of the calories gained that evening.
